NASA's "Send Your Name to the Moon" Project

Greetings everyone!  It's been a while since I've visited all of you!  I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer.  Hard to believe my household will resume our homeschooling lessons in a month. Seventh Grade Interactive ... here we come!

This message is to share with you a bit of fun for the future scientists living in your home.  NASA is gearing up it's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, and is compiling a roll of names to literally bring along.  The deadline to add names to the list is tomorrow, 7/25/08.  Check out their website at http://lunar.gsfc.nasa.gov/ then click on the section titled "Send Your Name To The Moon". In addition to adding names to the list, you can print out a full color Certificate of Participation, too.  I don't have a color printer, and ours still looked quite official in black and white.

A big thank you goes to former Calvert Homeschool Parent Trina in the Phillipines for finding this and sharing the info on her blog.

We joined, too!  In fact, when the older sisters learned that the little boys were sending their names to the moon, they had to join in, also!

What cheap fun!  The deadline has been extended to July 31st.  I sent my newly adopted boys names to the moon along with my dd.  We aren't in the same country yet- but their names can go to the moon together!
