    Spelling discussion (Spellingtime.com)

I know Spellingtime.com was mentioned in earlier posts in this forum, so I wanted to let everyone know that it is a "pay" program this year.   It was free all last year, but this year, you have several payment options.  There's a monthly one for $4.99, but I chose the 12-month plan for 35.88.   I really love using it to supplement the Calvert spelling lessons.  I use it in place of the Calvert Spelling CD that has the timers built in from the first day a new word list is introduced.

Hope this information helps someone. :-)

I just went through the demo of that, and it looks wonderful! Do you, as the teacher, get to input the spelling list? Or do you just have to use the words that they use?

I just want you to know that there is a free web site, that goes with the Everyday Spelling Books, which compliments the book.  It has a variety of activities and reviews that can be helpful in learning the spelling word lists.  It is www.everydayspelling.com

Yes!  For 3rd grade, their lists went right along with our Calvert ones.  Not so for 4th grade, so there is an option to edit their word lists.  I just erased their words and did a search within their word list for the ones I wanted to add.  All of them were on their list, so they already had sentences for them pre-programmed into the site.   The sentences are used for activities when the computer voice asks, "Spell 'know'.  I always want to know more about birds."  They give you the words in sentences.

Admittedly, it would have been great to get access to the site for free again this year, but we got such a benefit from it last year, we decided to just pay for it this year. :-)
