Hi! I've seen so much on these boards about HWT. I'm thinking of adding this into our Calvert curriculum. What exactly would I need to buy for the program. Their website has sooo many materials. It's really hard to decide what I should buy. Is anyone using this? What exactly did you buy?...

Saxon Phonics

Has anyone tried the Saxon Phonics along with their K Calvert program? We might need something to supplement.. Any thoughts on this?

I figure it won't take us the entire year to finish the Saxon K program, if we are still doing it in July and August I will put a label over two months that we won't be using. We do school four days a week and use Saxon everyday instead of a few times a week like they recommend. Also, my son...

Saxon K math

We are going to be adding in Saxon Math K and noticed that the meeting book lessons start in September. How have you adjusted the schedule to start at another time of the year? Do you have to keep flipping back and forth to coordinate the lessons?

Reading Comprehension-K

My child seems to be having a hard time with the reading comprehension section. We're on lesson 12 and up until today, when we read "Mice Squeak, We Speak" my daughter has had a hard time "getting it." It seems that every time I read stories out of the "Poems and Prose"...

Connections Academy in Oregon

I'm starting K soon with Calvert. My child otherwise would have to wait 2 years to start K because of her birthdate and the cutoff for Connections Academy (or any public school, for that matter) in Oregon. (Child has to be 5 by Sept 1) I'm doing K because I feel like I would be losing ground...

I tend to follow Sarah's lead, as we have a lot in common. We are using Saxon K with the Calvert K program, and eventually I will probably pull out the Calvert math materials to supplement, as my daughter loves worksheets. We still haven't reached a challenging point in the Saxon math yet, but...

I'm assuming that you have the new K course. The old one has a lot of activities, like those mentioned, that you might want to do for a while if they are also in the new course. Things like baking gingerbread cookies to go along with The Gingerbread Man story or learning how to run a certain distance...
