Suplementing lessons

This is our first year homeschooling. My DD loves Calvert K we will soon be ordering first grade. This year we are having good luck supplementing with horizons math and HWT (hand writing without tears) and explode the code.I found this great for small chunks of time when she was bored on the weekend...

The textbook webs sites have lots of free resources. Even if you are not using the textbook you can find something at a textbook site to make learning fun. I spiced up our science lessons by getting a pair of microscopes. One is a simple low powered microscope (20X) and good for looking at rocks, logs...

What to do when you finish a grade level? That depends on your child and your lifestyle. You have several choices: Start 1st grade, review K, discoveries in music, reading for fun ...or just have FUN! I like Rainbow resources http://www.rainbowresource.com because they have many things, are discounted...

1st grade social studies

We are on lesson 47 in first grade and my dd is supposed to fill in a chart (Explore activity 11) about North and South America. She needs to give examples of foods and clothing and shelters that are specific to these specific continents. The other continents are soon to follow. I have been searching...
